Winsford Market

Winsford is a traditional indoor market supporting small businesses; it offers a range of products and locally sourced food. Located conveniently in the town centre and positioned near to Asda superstore, it is visited by locals and new customers alike.

Winsford Market traders pride themselves on customer service and expertise on products they offer and they’re happy to negotiate a deal. There is something for everyone and some products you may be pushed to find on the high street.

The market offers preloved vinyl records, jewellery, watches and repairs, a pet stall, school/workwear and handcrafted gifts, bags, cards, haberdashery, camper can accessories/mini market, memorials, trophies, up cycled and bespoke items and barbers plus eggs, deli and a traditional greengrocer and market café.

We also have availability for new starter business – get in touch to find out more.

We are keen to hear from businesses offering personal services such as hairdressers, artisan baked products and cakes, fudge and sweets, clothing alterations, shoe repairs and key cutting as well as arts and crafts.

FAQ’s

Why can’t I access the market from the side entrance from The Cross Shopping Centre?

This is to ensure public safety; during construction and since the new B&M superstore and garden centre opened, the size and frequency of HGV deliveries into the service yard at the side of the market has made it unsuitable for pedestrian access, the Council cannot put the public at risk of serious injury crossing a live HGV area.

Wasn’t this a Public Right of Way?
No, we have taken advice from our colleagues in the Council’s legal and public rights of way teams and confirmed that this route is not a public right of way.

What about parking next to the Market why has this been removed?
There are loading and unloading bays next to the market for shoppers’ convenience; however the 15-minute parking spaces in this area were removed on the grounds of public safety as outlined above. There still is significant free parking available in the town centre, the closest being adjacent to Asda which has a two-hour free allocation.

Can more be done to improve the Market?
Yes, the Council is planning to refurbish Winsford Market and received Cabinet approval on 9th July 2025 for investment of £1m. This followed extensive consultation with traders to discuss options for improving the Market, with traders expressing a clear preference to remain in the current building.

Following these discussions, the proposal is for the Market to be refurbished with a plan to increase trading days and attract more traders. Investment will be made to enhance the current offer and develop new community space within the current building for people to enjoy, creating a sustainable Market that is fit for the future.

This will feature improvements to the condition of the building, and an improved main entrance that will increase visibility via a proposed mural on the adjacent wall and encourage a greater number of visitors. There will also be a reconfiguration inside the Market which will create community space for groups and events, helping to revitalise the trading environment. We currently expect to complete these works by autumn 2026.
